Relative Humidity:
Humidity distribution is governed by the frontal humidity. High values of relative humidity can be found ahead of the
frontal zone, along the slope of the isentropes. In the vicinity of the Jet Fibre there is no secondary humidity
maximum, because the ECMWF model is not able to resolve such small-scale structures. Behind the front in the region of
jet streak (upper left corner of the cross-section), there is a humidity minimum caused by protrusion of dry air along
the cyclonic side of the jet.
Vertical Motion (Omega):
Vertical motion is connected mainly to frontal activity. There is strong rising motion along the slope of the frontal
zone.
Isotachs:
The maximum wind is found at about 300 hPa, behind the front, near to the maximum radiance in WV and IR connected to the
Jet Fibre. Fibre is in this case located on the anticyclonic side of the jet.
